    Quinn Hedberg has a great start toward his engineering degree. On February 4, he won the 2010 Win a Career scholarship contest sponsored by Madison Area Technical College and $6,000 in tuition.

    Quinn’s goals involve Madison College, transfer to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and eventually, with his degree in engineering, developing environmentally friendly alternative fuels. He is a senior at DeForest High School where he is vice-president of the Spanish Club, serves on Student Council, plays in the high school band and participates in DECA. He competes in six sports and has lettered in three of them.

    “I don’t know if I could find a better value for an education anywhere [other] than Madison College,” he said in his written essay. Check out the video for more of Quinn’s story.

    February 2009

    Candace Wood, a senior from Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, won her career at the Win a Career Awards Celebration held February 12, 2009. The judges viewed all the semi-finalists videos and awarded Candace up to two years tuition to pursue her dream career. She will begin her Early Childhood Associate Degree at Madison Area Technical College Fall 2009.

    • Lauren Vrana, William Horlick High School, Racine, Early Childhood Education

    November 2007

    The judges chose Alex Fellenz, a senior at Middleton High School, as the winner of this year’s contest. Alex’s video explained his goal of becoming a forensic anthropologist.
