You can only apply to start the Welding program in the fall semester.

A waitlist can form for this program, so the year you start depends on when you applied and the status of the waitlist.

You may apply as early as September 1 for the following fall. Because a waitlist can form for this program, we recommend you apply as early as possible.

The only admissions requirement is that you have a high school diploma, HSED, or GED.

A waitlist always forms for this program, so the earlier you apply the better.

Some students that are initially placed on a waitlist will be able to take the spot of someone who decides not to attend.

Last year, students that applied mid-January or earlier were admitted into the welding program for the fall. Students applying later than January had to wait an additional year before they could start the welding program.

You will receive a technical diploma upon completion of your coursework.

The program is designed for students to attend full-time for two semesters (fall and spring).

Students attend classes full time, typically from 7:30 am- 2:30 pm

All classes are held at the Madison Truax campus.

The only class you can take before entering the program that counts towards graduation requirements is Vocational Mathematics 1 (31-804-379).

Madison College also offers non-program evening welding courses that do NOT count towards graduation requirements. However, they can help you learn basic welding skills and can be helpful in discovering if welding is something you enjoy. The evening courses are Basic MIG Welding, Basic ARC Welding Basic, TIG Welding and Adv TIG Welding.

Because the welding program has a waitlist and our classes are filled to capacity with waitlist students, you cannot take program welding courses if you are not in the program.
