Health Insurance Requirement
Madison College has a specific group health insurance plan through LewerMark, which is required for all F-1 visa-holding international students. It is important that our international students have this specific plan to ensure access to health care that meets our minimum expectations, and so CIE staff will know how to assist students with seeking medical attention.
Health insurance coverage is required year round with payments due in two parts: at the start of the fall semester for August through December, and at the start of the spring semester for January through July. The exact amount due for the first payment will be included in the International Orientation materials received after admission. For details on the group health insurance plan offered through LewerMark, please check LewerMark website.
Waivers are rarely approved, but may be requested by submitting proof of holding an existing health insurance plan that meets all of the following requirements
- Have been in use prior to admission as an international student; it must not have been purchased only for the purpose of studying in the U.S.
- Be either from a spouse or parent’s U.S. employer, or a nationally-sponsored insurance plan that meets the following minimum requirements.
-
