Things to Remember When Dialing 9-1-1

911 EmergenciesDuring the past few months there have been several calls to
9-1-1. The Madison Fire Department has asked that we remind callers to be more specific when placing a call for emergency service.

Things to remember when dialing 9-1-1
    • Provide the address, exact location, and as much information about the emergency as you can.
    • If you provide the address of 3550 Anderson Street--emergency crews will arrive in the front circle outside the Administration Building.
•If you tell them to arrive at the horseshoe entrance on Wright Street, emergency crews will arrive in the circle by the Redsten Gymnasium/Mitby Theater.
    • Provide your name and the phone number you are calling from.
    • Provide as much information as possible to help emergency crews determine the correct equipment/personnel to dispatch.
    • Stay on the line until you are told to hang up.

    Contact Madison College Public Safety
Immediately after you hang up from 9-1-1, contact Madison College Public Safety Services at (608) 243-4357 and inform them you have called 9-1-1 for emergency assistance. Provide them with the location and extent of the situation. A campus officer will be sent to the emergency to provide necessary care/service until the appropriate response team arrives. A campus officer will also be sent to meet the emergency crews and escort them to the location of the emergency.

    Every Second Counts
By following the above steps, you will help to reduce response time for emergency crews and ensure that needed care is provided.
