Student Self-Service Class Swap/Section Change Implemented

Student self-service degree/credit class swap and section change options are now available in the Student Center. Self-service class swap, a STEPS project, further enhances student self-service registration options. The swap option in the Student Center also facilitates self-service course section change.
Self-service swap improves the student experience by providing students the opportunity to perform a qualified class swap or course section change in their Student Center 24/7. If all requirements are met, these self-service options may be completed without previously required staff assistance.
Prior to the first day of the term or session, students may add, drop and swap current term courses without penalty or restriction. There is no penalty if a class is dropped prior to the class start date.
After the term or session start, students may add classes via self-service up to the last date to enroll. Restrictions may apply to any class. Students should always add classes to their shopping cart and click the validate button to see if they meet class requirements prior to taking action to add or swap the class. This provides students the opportunity to take action to resolve the registration block or remove the class from the cart and choose an alternative.
Students granted class permissions from faculty and/or academic advisors with no other outstanding class/course requirements will be able to perform self-service swap or section changes thereafter.
Previously, students did not have these self-service and extended swap refund options. Students were required to obtain enrollment staff assistance with restrictions to request class swap only during the first two weeks of the spring and fall term and the first week of the summer session.
Please find section change, swap and refund requirements and information on the Madison College website. Students may access step-by-step instructions on the Tutorials web page. A closed captioned, audio/video tutorial is in production and will be published soon. The Student Center overview is also being updated.
We look forward to assisting students to learn of and work in these new registration options. It is exciting to provide additional Student Center self-services for our students.
This project is brought to you by many great folks who work in the Enrollment Center, Technology Services, Student Financials and Learner Success. Thank you to all who worked on this project!
