STEPS: Online Class Permissions Implementation

Student Tranformation Effective Practices & SystemsClass Permissions, a STEPS project, is set to implement on Nov. 1. Class Permissions improves the student experience by providing faculty and academic advisors an online method to grant class permissions within the Faculty and Advisor Centers, with students subsequently enrolling via self-service in their Student Center.

Previously, faculty, students and staff were required to complete paper forms and redundant manual processes to facilitate class permissions. This project development delivers the following:

-Faculty grant permissions in the Faculty Center previously facilitated via the Authorization for Enrollment form. The form is eliminated

-Academic and faculty advisors grant permissions in the Advisor Center previously facilitated by the Mandatory Placement and Student Waiver forms. The forms are eliminated

-Students validate permissions in their Student Center Shopping Cart and enroll via self-service prior to the last date to enroll expires. Staff assistance is eliminated

-Learner Success Center staff are able to support faculty and students in the event the last date to enroll has expired

-All permissions data is recorded in the Student Information System (PeopleSoft) database for departments and divisions to report and analyze

We look forward to delivering this exciting, new, paperless and efficient functionality on November 1. This project is brought to you by many great folks who work in the Enrollment Center, Learner Development, Learner Success and Technology Services. Thank you to all who worked on this project!
