STEPS Enrollment and Records Management Team Ready for Change
Mon, 06/27/2011 - 10:23 — tvdao
The STEPS Program’s Enrollment and Records Management Team is committed to establishing convenient, easy to understand student registration processes. These changes will be implemented to best align with the college’s registration periods and are slated for go-live in the coming year.
In addition to registration and records process enhancements, the Enrollment and Records Team will provide access to exam schedules on PeopleSoft, making class schedules and exam dates available to students in one convenient location. A redesign of the official Madison College transcript, including a switch from landscape to portrait orientation, will also help provide a clearer and more concise display of the academic record.
Post-Upgrade Projects the Enrollment Records team is collaborating on:
-Student Self-Service SWAP – Plans to improve the class swap process will allow students to swap classes on their own using Student Center self-service. The current process can be cumbersome and time-consuming for students, faculty and staff, and the goal of this project is to deliver a new process that will allow class swapping to be a user-friendly tool for students to enroll in the classes they need at anytime during the term or registration period.
-Class Permissions & Overrides – This project goal will provide an online, automated process for faculty, advisors and counselors to grant student specific permissions in the Faculty Center or Advisor Center. This will permit students to enroll in classes via self-service, eliminating the current manual forms and processes during open registration times. The college will have data available to query and assess overrides granted and the impact on student attainment and success.
These improvements will enhance the student experience from one of the first points of service and will decrease:
-Unwanted/improper class enrollments
-Required staff-assisted transactions
-Financial aid/veterans educational benefit impacts
These changes and implementations show the Enrollment and Records Management team’s dedication to providing new and innovative developments, which will contribute to Madison College’s forward thinking educational practices as well as classic learning principles and open communication between students and educators.
Enrollment & Records Team members include team lead Lori McRoberts, team members Jackie Koehl and Kathleen Carley from CedarCrestone consulting.
