Remembering Jim Thomas

    We're sad to tell you golf coach Jim Thomas has passed away. He was 43.

    Jim Thomas Photo"We lost a great friend and member of our athletics family. I cannot express how saddened we are about Jim's death," says MATC Director of Athletics Steve Hauser. "Coach Thomas was a wonderful coach and mentor to the student-athletes that he worked with. We will miss him a great deal. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Susie, his kids and Jim's entire extended family."

    Jim...who was also the head pro at Bridges Golf Course...coached at MATC for eight years. His teams won seven straight Wisconsin Technical College Conference (WTCC) titles, eight consecutive Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association (WJCAA) titles, three National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIII titles, and finished second in the nation in both 2003 and 2004. Thomas won NJCAA Region XIII Coach-of-the-Year honors three times and WJCAA Coach-of-the-Year honors eight times

    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 7450 University Ave., in Middleton at 1 p.m. Saturday. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
