PT Faculty: Learn About Assessing Your Students

    Student assessment is defined as an on-going process that provides feedback aimed at understanding and improving student learning.

    Learn more about the assessment of learning, sound grading practices and working with an assessment and curriculum mentor

    Assessment and curriculum mentors provide support to faculty through these activities:

    • Teacher/StudentIdentifying various Madison Area Technical College contacts for Assessment and Curriculum support.
    • Sharing curriculum and assessment best practice resources.
    • Discussing with instructors successful strategies for teaching/learning.
    • Assisting with strategies and techniques to assess student learning outcomes.
    • Supporting the use of Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATS).
    • Being a guide by your side for the use of WIDS software for outlines of instruction and Learning Outcomes Assessment Database (LOAD) for student outcomes assessment.

    For new faculty, there is a special section on the assessment and curriculum website to provide you with special resources. These resources include information on developing a syllabus, grading policies, core abilities handout, curriculum and assessment glossary and support that is available from The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL).

    Once you have activated your College email and have access to Blackboard, there are many assessment and curriculum resources on Blackboard. These resources include sample rubrics, teaching and learning activities and resources that the curriculum mentors can provide.
