Proposed Email Policy – Feedback Requested
Thu, 04/07/2011 - 11:52 — kfoster3
As part of the STEPS Program, in order to clarify and define communication expectations for students, a policy is being proposed to identify a student’s Madison College email address as the official means of college business communication. This would provide clarification to students on how to expect to receive notices, letters, and other correspondence from the college. It would also allow the college to more expeditiously communicate information to students, nearly instantaneously rather than waiting for “snail mail” delivery. Benefits driving this policy also include cost savings from production and sending of mailings and environmental responsiveness to eliminating paper documents.
As part of the policy proposal process, the team wants to collect feedback from the Madison College community on the concept and its potential benefits or implications to how our community conducts business. Targeted emails are being sent to specific groups inviting them to participate in a brief feedback survey. For those who may not receive an email, we are including the following link as your opportunity to share your thoughts. This survey will be open through April 22. The results will be announced in a future article.
Proposed Policy Statement
Access to information technology resources is essential to the mission of Madison College and requires their effective use by all members of the College community. Use of information technology must be consistent with the College mission, goals, its role as a public agency, and state and federal laws.
The Madison College assigned student e-mail is the official address and form of college business communications to all students.
