New Student Account Creation Process
Fri, 10/29/2010 - 17:12 — wbessette
Online account creation was successfully launched on Monday, October 25. A result of STEPS Phase II Non-Program Intake Management Project, online account creation was designed to transform the way student accounts are established at Madison College. Potential students who do not need to complete the formal admission process now can create and activate their account, register and pay for classes in an online, self-service manner.
Previously, new accounts were created by phone, in-person or by completing a paper “Quick Admit” form. Accounts could then be activated online from myMadisonCollege for access to Student Center services. With online account creation, a potential student can now create an account, receive a Student ID number and move on to Account Activation in just four easy steps.
Online account creation brings many benefits to Madison College, potential students and staff:
• Accessibility: 24/7 online access.
• Accuracy: Reduced use of paper forms, which are often illegible or incomplete.
• Centralization of Processes: Self-service options from account creation to registration and payment are now all available online.
• Data Collection: Streamlined collection of data will assist the college with meeting State and Federal Client Reporting requirements.
• FTC Red Flags Rule Compliant: Secured process for prevention of identity theft.
Access to online account creation is available from registration and admissions web pages, the myMadisonCollege sign-on page and various askMadisonCollege FAQs. Complete instructions are available from the Account Creation tutorial. A Social Security Number is required for online account creation. Those who choose not to disclose their Social Security Number must create an account in person by submitting a New Student Account Creation Form (PDF, 899 KB) with photo ID at either the Truax or Downtown Campus Enrollment Center, or a regional or metro campus office.
In compliance with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Red Flags Rule to protect account holders from identity theft and fraud, new accounts can no longer be created by phone. Enrollment Center staff are available to assist students who encounter difficulties or error messages while attempting to create an account online.
Congratulations and thanks to team members Jayme Kerr and Peri Mills from Technology Services; Roxanne Zetzman, Stephanie Dean, Danielle Dahlke and Lori McRoberts from the Enrollment Center; Tricia Campbell from CedarCrestone consulting and all who helped support this project.
