New Parking Lot and Traffic Lights

You've probably noticed some construction going on at the Truax campus. Here's an update on the projects.

NEW PARKING LOT NEAR SOFTBALL AND SOCCER FIELDS:
The new parking lot is expected to be open for public parking on Sunday, August 22. Crews will still be working on lighting and landscaping, but that will not restrict parking. One important note: light poles will not be installed until late September, so parking will be limited to daytime hours only.

SMART SIGNAL LIGHTS AT ANDERSON AND HOFFMAN INTERSECTION:
New Traffic LightsNew paving will take place during the week of August 16 at the Anderson and Hoffman street intersection. Traffic barricades will direct motorists thru the construction zone. Anderson Street will not be closed but a short section of Hoffman Street from our parking lot entrance to Anderson Street will be closed for two days during this week. Barricades will be placed on Hoffman Street at our parking lot entrance, so traffic will not be able to go south on Hoffman Street. All traffic must flow north on Hoffman Street to Kinsman Boulevard as no access to Anderson Street will be permitted on two days, Tuesday August 17 and Wednesday August 18.

All underground signal light preparation will be completed by Friday, August 20. The new smart signal lights are expected to be ready in October. The smart light system uses video or pavement sensors to digitize information and send it to a computer that makes instantaneous decisions on how long traffic lights should stay red and green. In other words, the system adapts to the traffic flow.

Thank you for your patience and please remember to slow down in work areas.
