New Learner Success Operations Hub

It is our pleasure to introduce a new Learner Success administrative unit, the Learner Success Operations office located in Room 254 at the Truax Campus. This office will focus on ensuring the operational effectiveness and excellence of Learner Success.

Learner Success StaffKey Responsibilities of the Operations Office:
    - Coordinating and monitoring accuracy of course and class information through the implementation of standard business procedures and ongoing auditing and data validation.
    - Guidance and support to all academic areas for program/course approval and modification including troubleshooting operational problems of a critical or sensitive nature which may involve students, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders.
    - Coordinating WTCS State Reporting for program, course, and class information.
    - Providing leadership, direction, and management of core business processes such as production of the class schedule, unfulfilled prerequisite identification, class waitlist management, and application for graduation.

    Learner Success Operations Staff
Currently, the “Hub” (as we affectionately refer to this new area) consists of five staff:

Lori Sebranek is the Operations Director for Learner Success and is responsible for supervision of the Operations unit. She has been charged with providing leadership, direction, and management to core Learner Success business processes.

Lori returned to Madison College a year ago, after working as Assistant Registrar for Curricular Services at the UW-Madison. Prior to that, Lori worked at our College in various roles, including Learner Success Project Leader, Computer Information Systems Instructor, and Information Systems Project Leader.

Annie Neuberger is our new academic planner whose primary focus is to coordinate daily academic, curricular, and state reporting processes. Annie comes to our office from the Agriscience and Technologies Center with a wealth of experience in advising and curriculum management. Annie is also serving as the STEPS Academics team project lead for the PeopleSoft Version 9.0 upgrade.

Kelly Schulte and Nicole Soulier are administrative coordinators who provide support for a broad range of curricular processes from class setup to course configuration.

Kelly comes to our office from Strategic Advancement with experience in developing effective communications and managing projects. Her first major focus is to work on the implementation of automated classroom scheduling.

Prior to taking her position in Learner Success, Nicole worked as an enrollment facilitator in Admissions. Her knowledge of enrollment and student services will be invaluable to our unit. Nicole is focusing on course and class support and is participating on the STEPS Academic team.

Lisa Franklin has been supporting ITV scheduling for a number of years in the Information Technology department. With the renewed focus on classroom management within Learner Success, Lisa transitioned to our office to continue support of ITV but more importantly to support the scheduling of our new, specialized classrooms such as TelePresence. Lisa also provides clerical support for the office and you will see her at our front reception desk.

    Plans for the Future
During the next year, this office will focus its attention on:
    - Redefining Learner Success core operational business and system processes including Course and Program modification, training staff on core business procedures, and defining and communicating related timelines and procedures.
    - Building and strengthening connections between and across academic centers.
    - Developing collaborative and shared ownership throughout Learner Success of curricular data in support of WTCS guidelines and regulations.
    - Conducting business process reviews for curricular related processes with district-wide impact.
    - Supporting the Facilities Master Plan by implementing strategies for effective room utilization including the automation of classroom scheduling.

We anticipate that these and other related curricular business process improvements will result in a realignment of responsibilities across Learner Success with the ultimate goal of providing the efficient and effective business processes which support the Strategic, Academic, and Facilities Master Plans.
