New Human and Protective Services Dean Named

Learner Success – Dean/Human and Protective Services Center Announcement
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Richard (Rick) Raemisch to the position of Dean - Center for Human and Protective Services. The appointment is effective February 14.
Please join me in extending sincere thanks to Doug Holton who has been serving as Interim Dean for the last several months. We appreciate his willingness to help out during this time. Doug is committed to the students in the Human and Protective Services programs and will continue to serve our students, staff, and faculty in his role as associate dean.
Rick received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in Political Science. He also received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Rick comes to us from the State of Wisconsin-Department of Corrections where he served as secretary, deputy secretary, and division administrator. Prior to that, he worked as a Tax Appeals Commissioner at the State of Wisconsin-Tax Appeals Commission, served as Dane County Sheriff (and deputy sheriff), as the Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and as an Assistant District Attorney in the Dane County District Attorney’s Office.
Rick has received many awards and recognitions including the Dane County Board of Supervisors Outstanding Service Award, University of Wisconsin Law School George Young Memorial Award, Madison South Beltline Optimist Club Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, the Luan Gilbert Award for outstanding contributions in the fight against domestic violence, the Attorney General’s Wisconsin Law Enforcement Executive of the Year, and was voted one of Madison’s most 25 influential people by Madison Magazine in 1994.
On a more personal note, Rick has been a life-long Dane County resident and is married with three children.
In his role as Dean, Rick will provide the leadership and management of district programs within the Human & Protective Services Learning Center. This position reports to the Vice President for Learner Success.
The Human and Protective Services Learning Center includes programming in Human Services, Early Childhood Education/Child Care Development, Motorcycle Driving, Criminal Justice, Digital Forensics, Emergency Medical, Emergency Preparedness, and Fire Service/Protection.
