New Cisco Phone Information
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 11:54 — kfoster3
We on the phone team are hoping that you are enjoying the new phone and voicemail services installed over the summer. A reminder that any part-time faculty who have not yet requested these services can do so after reviewing this recent Matters article.
Many of you have participated in the associated CETL training. Thank you!
Please visit CETL for the schedule of classes if you have not yet attended or have any new questions.
We’d also like to provide some additional information to address common questions that have arisen over the past couple of weeks. Please review and see if any are helpful to you.
- The name displayed on your phone is your legal name, coming from the
Peoplesoft system. Having it changed would require a legal name change with HR.
- With the new system, you must dial a ‘9’ first, then ‘1’ to call long distance.
- You can reset your own voicemail password at any time, either through the
‘messages’ button on the phone or via the ‘voicemail tab’ in Outlook > tools > options. Please consult your training materials for the full instructions.
- All phones in shared spaces (classrooms, labs, prep. rooms, etc.) are built with local calling rights and an internal phone number. If you need long distance or to be reached externally, please log into the phone using Extension Mobility to ‘make the phone your own’ while you are using the space. Again, consult the
training materials for the full instructions.
- Anyone with the new services can direct callers to reach them at 246-6300 via the voice activated directory.
- All hallway phones, except select courtesy phones at each campus, are restricted to dialing 911, internally, or toll free. Please see the following article for more details.
