District Board Ratifies Contracts and Contract Amendments

I am happy to report that the Madison Area Technical College District Board voted last night to ratify contracts and contract amendments for the part time faculty, full time faculty, and our paraprofessional and school related personnel bargaining units. The Board members expressed their gratitude for the collaborative process that lead to these historic agreements. The Board votes to ratify the contracts and amendments were unanimous.

Please accept the gratitude of the College for placing our students’ interest in front of your own. These new agreements go a long way towards solving challenging financial problems and making it possible for us to continue to meet the needs of our students. More than that, these agreements stand as testament to our resolve to fulfill our mission in the most challenging circumstances.

We have not yet solved the entire projected budget deficit but we are much closer to a solution that will avoid involuntary layoffs while maintaining current service levels for students. In this time of crisis our determination to continue moving forward sends a strong message to our communities that we will continue to fight for our students.

We will now engage in college-wide processes to identify other budget reduction strategies. Please look for your opportunity to share ideas that will contribute to these efforts. As long as we remain united in our purposes we will navigate this crisis and reinforce our determination to continue to serve our communities for decades to come.
