Center for Adult Learning Leadership Change

It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Shawna Carter to the Associate Dean position for the Center for Adult Learning (CAL). Shawna has been serving as the Associate Dean for Arts and Sciences. This appointment is effective February 14.
Shawna will transition between the Arts and Sciences Center and the CAL for a period of time to ensure workflow continuity in Arts and Sciences.
Nancy Woodward who previously held the position as the Director of the Center for Adult Learning recently accepted a new position within the College as an Instructional Technologist in The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). We wish Nancy well in her new role at the college and thank her for her outstanding efforts to develop, market, implement, and coordinate activities for the Center for Adult Learning.
The Center for Adult Learning (CAL) has focused its efforts on serving displaced workers during this recession. There is a continuing need to do that. The work of the CAL team has been focused on the academy model of instruction. That focus will be changing to include other efforts to serve working adult learners such as accelerated learning and other alternative delivery programming efforts. The CAL will strengthen integration of instructional programming with other Academic Learning Centers and will broaden their focus on instructional pathways support for all adults across the district.
To reflect the support function changes of the CAL and to align this Center’s support structure with the other Academic Learning Centers, we are changing the administrative leadership position from a Director to an Associate Dean. The Associate Dean position for CAL will report directly to the Vice President for Learner Success.
Please join us in congratulating Shawna as the new Associate Dean for the Center for Adult Learning.
Terry Webb
Vice President for Learner Success
