Campus Phone Number Changes

Nearly a year ago, the main number for the DTEC campus, (608) 258-2300, was redirected to (608) 246-6100, the College’s main number. 

This was done because the vast majority of callers to that number had general questions. They could therefore benefit from using the main auto attendant and/or being serviced by the full Enrollment Center staff. 

This staff is either able to answer the caller’s question or transfer them to the appropriate department. That department could be at any campus or even spread across campuses, so the location number has become irrelevant with the new technology.

After discussions with leaders at both the Commercial Avenue and West campuses, the same situation applies there. We will therefore, with the consent of the Enrollment Center, be redirecting the main numbers for Commercial Avenue (608) 246-5200 and West (608) 243-5402 to the College’s main number beginning September 23rd. 

We're working with Marketing to have direct numbers for all three locations fazed out of any collateral, and will discontinue the numbers when that is complete.

We know that there are situations when you really do need to reach a person at a particular location. This includes emergencies like when a student might need to be pulled from a class or when someone is locked out of a room. 

For those purposes, we have created cross-departmental hunt groups at all three locations to receive those calls during business hours – 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday – Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Friday. 

The numbers to reach these hunt groups are:

- Comm. Ave. – (608) 245-5899
- West – (608) 828-7901

Please remember that these numbers should be used very infrequently, only for situations as described above.  These numbers should also not be published or given to students – they are for internal use only. We hope that the combination of these two changes allows the College to serve callers efficiently and effectively while also making the best use of staff.
