Book Loans Application Online

Application for fall (spring) book loans will be available online from Monday, January 9 to Saturday, January 28 (week before term start through second week of term). Those wishing to explore or apply for a book loan should be referred to the information page.

The page contains complete information about book loan eligibility criteria and how the process works, as well as a link to the application.

Here are few important things to note about the book loan:

Book Loans•The book loan is secured against the student’s pending financial aid award. If we cannot verify the student will be getting financial aid, we cannot approve a book loan. In these cases, we will refer the student to other resources to access texts (e.g. Library reserve).
•When financial aid disbursal is imminent, it is much better for the students to use the award than a book loan.
•Students should check their award letter and myMadisonCollege Student Center to make sure they have completed all the steps required for their financial aid. There are a few new steps this term.
•Items approved for a book loan must be purchased from a Madison College Bookstore. Book loans are available at all campuses supporting a book store.
•We are anticipating that book loan applicants should receive a reply within one to two business day of submission (Saturday, Sunday, and holiday are not included).
•We will automatically review denied applications one week later. This will give students time to address any outstanding issues regarding their eligibility and not require submission of a duplicate book loan application. This will be communicated to students when we reply regarding their application status.
•Sometimes, financial aid requires additional documents from students. Even though a student may drop off required documents, it will take some time to put them through processing. To allow for prioritization of this processing work, offices will not be able to search through submitted forms ad hoc. Our processors will reach out daily to check forms pending processing, but some loans may potentially be denied because of this processing period. Again, we will inform the student and re-evaluate all denied loans the following week.
•During the week of January 30 (third week of the term), we will continue to process any previously denied loans. Although we will not be accepting new applications this week, we will look at those
already received to see if action has been taken that could result in approval.

If a student needs a book loan outside the processing period, the student should be referred to the Student Development Center. Although we cannot promise funding support, our counseling staff can assist the students in exploration of potential resources or strategies to address the student’s budgetary needs.
