Blackboard 9.1 Upgrade News

Blackboard logoWe are happy to report our new Blackboard 9.1 system is up and running and the copying of classes from Blackboard 8 over to 9.1 is almost complete with a 99 percent success rate! Blackboard 8 will still be our active system this fall semester, but we will use Blackboard 9.1 for the upcoming spring semester.

What can you do now to prepare?
-Review your course content for errors and inconsistencies. Some clean-up may be required. CETL has prepared a checklist to help you with this review. A copy is provided at each Blackboard 9.1 training session. It is important you report problems or abnormalities with courses to the Helpdesk so that corrective action can be taken. Access Blackboard 9.1 here.

-Edit or develop course content in an existing Master Class on Blackboard 9.1. To request a new Master Class in Blackboard 9.1, email the help desk from your Madison College staff email account with the following information:  The catalog number (sample format: 12-345-789) and the name you would like applied to the class.

-Be sure to take advantage of the Blackboard 9.1 training that is scheduled for this semester. Training dates and registration information can be found on the CETL website. If a particular department would like to schedule a training session, please contact CETL to make those arrangements.

-Check out the project website, Blackboard’s on-demand learning resources, check in with CETL for how to talk with a Blackboard Mentor or schedule time with a Blackboard 9 facilitator.

    Note:
We were unable to migrate a small number of courses. The content remains in Blackboard 8 and we will work with you individually to move it to Blackboard 9.1. If you do not see your course in the new Blackboard 9.1 system, please contact the Helpdesk to submit a request for assistance.

Blackboard 9.1 will be unavailable due to system maintenance on Fridays in September and October from
1 – 4 p.m. Blackboard 8 will continue to be available and is not impacted by this schedule.
