Attendance at the Orientation is required prior to taking the GED or HSED tests. At Regional campuses the Orientation is done in one session and in Madison the Orientation is done in two parts. The Orientation includes the Wisconsin requirements to obtain your GED or HSED, a TABE skills assesment, career assessment and employability skills.
Once you have prepared for the GED Tests and attended the Orientation, the next step is to take and pass the five GED tests. Remember, the GED Tests cannot be taken online. The GED Tests released in 2002 (the "2002 Series") measure your knowledge in science, math, social studies, reading, and writing, including an essay that assesses your ability to write and communicate effectively. The HSED has additional requirements of Health, Civics and Employability skills. The tests provide adults who did not complete a formal high school program the opportunity to demonstrate they have high school-level academic knowledge and skills.
