Providing content for public information on pages of the MATC Website (this refers to general public, prospective, current and former students)

  1. The MATC Web Publications Coordinator will work with individuals to format and incorporate new content requests into the design of the college site to ensure uniformity of look and navigation (see #2 below forselect exceptions). Review and approval of web content and pages by your dean, manager or supervisor may be required prior to posting.

  1. To assist site visitors in navigating easily throughout the MATC site, common design and navigation on MATC public pages is the standard. Exceptions may be made for parts of MATC that have a unique purpose and/or audience from that of the college. If you work with a consultant or external vendor to develop your site, or use non-standard MATC software, college resources may not be available to support your site and you will be responsible for its maintenance. To be linked to the MATC site, all new unique page submissions must meet the following criteria:

    1. Madison Area Technical College logo or name displayed on your homepage with a link to the MATC homepage;

    2. Contact name and the email of the page author included on the bottom of each page; and

    3. A last modified date at the bottom of the page.

  2. eCommerce and other interactive services must be thoroughly tested by the author and other parties prior to posting. In addition, Web Coordination Team members must be satisfied that your site is functional before it is posted.

  3. The information you provide should not repeat information already on the site and in our college catalog. You are encouraged to identify links from your pages to pertinent information already on the site.

  4. You are responsible for ensuring the information contained is of the highest editorial standard (correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, style) and factually accurate. If errors are observed, you will be contacted to make corrections.

  5. All media used must have the express written permission of not only the person or organization that owns the image, but of any person included within the image. Permission to include non-MATC owned photos, images, trademarks and copyrights must be noted on your site and a copy of the written permission submitted to the Web Publications Coordinator. MATC strictly adheres to federal copyright law. Contact Herb Nelson at 608/246-6789 if you need additional copyright information.

  6. You must keep posted information current and check to ensure its accuracy at least monthly. The Web Publications Coordinator will update your information upon your request. If information is not accurate or is outdated, it will be removed. If your information changes frequently, arrangements may be made with you to make changes directly to your pages.

  7. External link requests must meet at least one of the below criteria and may be reviewed by the Web Coordination Team to determine appropriateness for posting.

    1. Nonprofit sites must provide meaningful, accurate information to students, employees and the general public that is directly related to the college's purpose and mission.

    2. Commercial site link requests will be considered only for organizations or services that have significant partnerships and/or provide important support or unique information to the college and/or its students.

    3. The program or part of the college most closely associated with the service, or message of the requested link, strongly endorses or supports the request.

    4. The link provides vital and unique information or services related to the purpose and mission of MATC that is not available elsewhere to students, employees or the public.

Links to external pages that do not meet MATC guidelines and standards will not be permitted and will be removed when reported or discovered. If a link is found in violation, the link will be removed. MATC is not responsible for the accuracy, content, currency, completeness or availability of information to non-MATC pages and site links.

  8. Advertising is not allowed on public, instructional or employee pages of the MATC Website. MATC pages are not to be used for subject matter unrelated to the college or for personal gain.

  9. For technical and communication purposes, it is best to create awareness for one web address and to drive visitor traffic through a central homepage. When referencing Web information in marketing materials, the college will publish the address for its homepage and provide further directions as necessary to specific underlying pages.

For this reason, when directing new visitors to pages we suggest you use the http://matcmadison.edu Web address for the college homepage and then provide further directions to a specific page. For instance, go to matcmadison.edu and select the link "Programs" for Automotive Technology Program information.

The MATC Website design allows users to navigate throughout the site and perform a site "Search" and "Advanced Search" from every page. The MATC Website has been organized with common categories like "Get Started" and "Student Resources" so that first-time users can easily get to the information they need. It is a benefit to users to direct traffic through the homepage so that they can see all options available on the site and gain general information about the college.

  10. The spellings of many new web and technology-related terms have not yet become standard in the English language. Until an accepted standard is established, we endorse the use of uniform spellings on our website and in other publications and communications. For more information see the Web Style Guide.

  11. Contact Web Services if you need information or assistance.
