If you need a website for instructional or employee information purposes, contact your functional area Web Coordinator. Your coordinator will assist you with assigning a web address according to MATC's standard naming structure. This naming structure was established in April, 2000 to improve the organization and security of our web server. Here's an example of the standard naming structure:
matcmadison.edu/functional area/subfunction/authorlastname/filename
- Functional area refers to Administration (ad), Institutional Advancement (ia), Instructional Services (is), Student Services (ss), Human Resources (hr), Office of the President (op).
- Subfunction refers to division and/or department.
- Use of author's name should be determined by functional area contact and web author.
Employee information web address may look like: matcmadison.edu/ia/ae/assessment/coreability, or matcmadison.edu/ss/ecpc/tjones/index.html
Instructional information web address may look like: matcmadison.edu/is/ald/tjones/index.html
matcmadison.edu/is/iss/etla/curriculum
Prior to the announcement of the naming structure, some pages contained addresses with prefixes like: instruction.matcmadison.edu/djames, matcmadison.edu/djames. To make the changes more "user friendly," Web Coordinators arranged redirect pages to help users make the transition to the new addresses.
If you find your web address still doesn't reflect the naming structure, please contact your functional area Web Coordinator. He or she can make arrangements for a redirect page. Redirect pages will expire within a reasonable period of time.
