Caladium Desires

What are seashells
if not fingerprints of earth?
What if earth is a creation of stories
from both Heaven and Hell,
a place for each story to grow roots,
to exhale life,
for us to breathe in
and decide?
Perhaps these stories
from both Heaven and Hell
are as simple as a caladium.
Maybe these stories
are as quite, so quiet,
and as lovely, or as dependent
as a caladium growing
in a closed clay container,
that we are the ones
who created all the noise.
What if we are the ones who created all the noise?
And what if I could tell you,
all I desire to say to you?
All I desire to know of you?
When I am lost within, I beg you,
reach in the soil and find me.
Surrounded by our noises,
our machines,
our destruction,
and our hope,
I want to love you.
