About the Volunteer Center

The Volunteer Center Programming Board sponsors programs for MATC students to engage in service to the community.  The students coordinate:

A Tutoring Program for MATC student to tutor in local elementary and middle schools.  This program is available for both volunteers and work study students.

An Alternative Break Program that offers service trips during spring, winter, and summer breaks.

The Santa’s Wish List Program, which provides gifts to MATC students that are also parents that are in need of some help with the holidays.

The Atwood Community Center Thanksgiving Program during the month of November.  There is a food drive held and MATC students volunteer at the Center to sort and distribute dinners to families in the community.

An Empty Bowls Project in February, where volunteers sell and purchase pottery from local artists and all proceeds go to local the food pantries.

The Winter Warmth Clothing and Accessories Drive is held during the winter months for area pantries.

National Youth Service Day in partnership with the United Way of Dane County, the UW Morgridge Center, and Edgewood College in April.

Interested in signing up for any of these programs? Complete a Student Organization application and return it to the Student Life Office, Truax Room 140 or Downtown Room D237.
