"Painting, Parity and Persistance"
Abstract: It's easy to see that if you add a long string of even numbers the answer has to be an even number. This is a simple application of the concept of 'invariance' - something that stays the same even when other things (like the running total) change. In this talk some less obvious applications of this simple principle will be used to solve some fun problems.
Biography: Professor Steven Post received his Ph.D from Princeton University.Ê He did his undergraduate work at the University of Chicago and he has been teaching at Edgewood College since 1988
