Voter Registration
The League of Women Voters and our own Phi Theta Kappa honor society are sponsoring a voter registration table for the November elections. Students and staff may register at one of two locations this month:
- September 16, from 10:30 am to 2 p.m. at Truax
- September 17, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Downtown
Registration is easiest if students or staff bring a driver’s license.
College Dem’s Host Author
The College Democrats Club is sponsoring John K. Wilson, an author of a book on Barack Obama. He will appear on Sept. 22, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the MATC Truax Student Lounge and also at DTEC in Room 240 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. the same day. This event is free and open to students, faculty, staff, administrators and the general public.
The title of John’s presentation is “Generation Obama: How Barack Obama is Building a Politcal movement.”
John K. Wilson is the author of Barack Obama: This Improbable Quest (Paradigm Publishers, 2008) and the founder of Obamapolitics.com. He is the founder of the Institute for College Freedom, and the author of five books, including Patriotic Correctness: Academic Freedom and Its Enemies (Paradigm Publishers, 2008).
Math Club Lectures for Fall 2008
The MATC Math Club proudly presents a series of five lectures this semester. Come one, come all. You and your friends are invited. Door prizes and refreshments are available.
- Wednesday, Sept. 17, 3:30 p.m., Room 209 – Professor Marty Isaacs, UW-Madison: Soccer Balls, Pentagons and Euler.
- Friday Oct. 10, 9 a.m., Mitby Theater – The Professor Numbers Mathemagics Show; 10:30-noon, Third Annual Face Off for middle school students.
- Wednesday, Oct. 15, 3:30 p.m., Room 209 – Professor Elgin Johnston, Iowa State University, Mass Points: Geometry by Physics
- Friday, Nov. 7, 3:30 p.m., Room 209 – Professor John Coburn, St. Louis Community College, Mining the Cubic Equation for Mathematical Gems.
- Wednesday, Dec. 3, 3:30 p.m., Room 209 – Professor Benjamin Collins, UW-Platteville, Fibonacci Trees: A Dream Come True.
