Student Bulletin – WolfPack Athletics

WolfPack Volleyball Update
The women's volleyball team traveled to Rochester, MN on Sat., Sept. 6, to take part in the annual Rochester CTC Tournament. While competing against some of the top teams in the country the WolfPack played well and went 3-1 overall.
The women easily defeated Gogebic CC 25-13, 25-14, and Minnesota West CTC 25-19, 26-24, before losing to the host and eventual Tournament Champion Rochester CTC in a close match by scores of 26-24, 23-25, and 11-15. The WolfPack then defeated Riveland CC in the Third-Place game by scores of 25-22, and 28-26, to earn third place overall.

WolfPack Soccer Update
On Sept. 8, MATC jumped out to a 2-1 halftime advantage against the Concordia College JV soccer team with goals by Luis Crespo and Jimmy Meneses. In the second half, Concordia answered with an unassisted goal to tie the game at two apiece. In the ninety-fifth minute, Concordia again scored an unassisted goal to win 3-2. MATC goalies, Tyler Smith and Ernest Tetteh combined for nine saves. With the loss MATC drops to 1-3 on the season.

On Saturday, Sept. 6, MATC played host to the Wood Ducks from Century College (MN) in an afternoon match. Leo Oseguero scored the game's first goal via a Marcus Olenburg assist in the eigth minute, but Century scored twice in the half to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
In the second half Century scored again to go up by two goals before Oseguero scored his second goal of the day (Austin Lehman assist) to bring the final score to 3-2. First year goalie Tyler Smith had 7 saves while allowing 3 goals.

Fitness Center Jobs

The MATC Fitness Center at the Truax and Downtown campus hires work study eligible students to work in the Fitness, Health & Recreation offices. If you are WORK STUDY eligible, and would like more information or an application, please contact Denise Stenklyft at dstenklyft@matcmadison.edu. If you're not sure if you're work study eligible or not, visit the Financial Aid office.

Family Fit Night
Family Fit Night is a program designed for the family to promote a healthy life-style. Any family interested in spending quality time together can get involved. The schedule is:

  • Friday, Oct. 17 – Pool-O-Ween & Gym (Sports of all Sorts), gym, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; family swim, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; costume contest, 6:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded! Activities in the gym such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, kingdom bounce area, parachute and ring toss.
  • Friday, Nov. 14 – Swim & Basketball Game, family swim, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; WolfPack women's basketball game, 6 p.m.; WolfPack men's basketball game, 8 p.m. Enjoy a WolfPack varsity basketball game and play water volleyball in the pool. Popcorn provided for the game.
  • Friday, Dec. 5 – Food and Float, family swim 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bring one canned good item per family member for "free" admission. Also, don't forget your favorite floatable toy to enjoy in the pool! Canned goods will be donated to a food pantry.

Pre-register and save money. Cost in advance is $5 per family per night or $2 per person. Cost the day of the event is $7 per family or $3 per person.

MATC Sixth in First Invite
The MATC Golf Team finished in sixth place, out of fifteen teams at the annual Highland Invitational at the Park Hills Golf Course in Freeport, IL. Jostin Algrim led the way for the WolfPack shooting a 18-hole score of 75 and finishing fourth while second year player, Andrew Zganiar posted a 78 to place fifteenth.
Other MATC Finishers: Adam Lutz (83), Kerby Thomas (85), Brendon Albrecht (90).
