FAQs About Mid-Year Graduation
What do graduates have to do? – Potential graduates will receive a letter from the Registrar’s Office informing them of their potential graduate status (by Nov. 14, 2008). Grads should check the spelling of their name on the letter. If it is wrong, they should contact the Enrollment Center at Truax or their Regional Campus Administrative Office. If a student thinks they should be graduating and did NOT receive a letter, they should speak to their division office immediately to resolve any discrepancies (see a list of divisional offices).
How much does it cost? – The graduation fee is $20.00 Graduates need to pay the fee at the Welcome Center, Room 129F (or the Enrollment Center after 4:00 p.m.) at the Truax Campus, or go to their Regional Campus Office. The graduation fee helps defray the costs of the diplomas, the diploma covers, the cap, gown and tassels, announcements, programs, and the cost of the ceremony. Student accounts must be paid in full prior to or at the time of graduation fee payment. Graduates will receive a Graduate Card upon payment; complete this card to ensure your diploma is mailed to the correct address.
Where do they get their caps and gowns? – Turn in the Graduate Card to the Student Life Office, room 140 truax or D237 at DTEC by December 16, 2008 (at the Madison Campuses) or your Regional Campus Office to immediately order/obtain a cap, gown, tassel, invitations, and information sheet. Students do not return the caps and gowns; they are theirs to keep. However, should students wish to donate their caps and gowns for use in the GED graduation ceremonies at MATC, collection bins will be available following the ceremony.
