Student, staff and visitor safety is a top priority of Madison Area Technical College. Many individuals, committees, and whole departments are committed to this goal and have come together to ensure the safety of the MATC campus community.

    Security

MATC Campus Security Services is a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week department that protects and serves 47,000 students, 3,000 employees and daily visitors to MATC. In addition to the enforcement and protection role, MATC Campus Security Services offers many programs such as security escorts, vehicle unlocks and public education.

    Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)

The BIT is a central clearinghouse to coordinate responses to student behaviors of concern to students, faculty and staff. When red flags are raised about specific student behavioral concerns, the BIT follows up on these concerns. The BIT is an interdisciplinary team that meets weekly to assess and implement intervention plans for students deemed to be at risk to themselves or others socially, mentally and physically.

    Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)

The EHS Office is charged with the overall responsibility for occupational and environmental health and safety issues, including but not limited to: accident prevention and investigation, chemical/laboratory safety, infection control, hazardous waste management and environmental protection. The District EHS Office exists in order to plan, develop and implement required guidelines for these issues, monitor their effectiveness and provide consulting resources for MATC staff.
