    The Student Development Center's (SDC) advisors and counselors are available at all Madison Area Technical College campuses to assist you with academic and career planning, finding employment, and managing personal issues and challenges. The SDC's Advisors, Counselors, Specialists, Health and Wellness Center and Multicultural Support staff are dedicated to helping you achieve your academic and professional goals.

    Academic Advising Services

    Advisors assist with academic and career planning.

    Staff members in Academic Advising Services can help you with academic advising,transfer advising, course selection. In addition, they can help guide you through your college experience at Madison College.

    Alcohol and Drug Abuse

    The Health and Wellness Center offers help to students struggling with alcohol and drug dependency and abuse problems. Assistance can be provided anonymously and is kept confidential within legal guidelines.   

    Career and Employment

    Current and prospective Madison College students may meet with an advisor (available at each campus) for assistance with career exploration and employment services. Contact us to schedule an appointment.

    Counseling

    Madison College Counseling Services offer a range of professional services for students needing assistance with academic and career issues, personal concerns, interpersonal issues, conflict management and crisis intervention. These services are free and available to all current or prospective students.

    Disability Resources

    Students with disabilities can turn to Disability Resource Services for help obtaining the accommodations they need to succeed. Disability Resource Services assists students with various types of disabilities, including learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, orthopedic impairments, sensory disabilities and other health impairments. To ensure that accommodations are in place when classes begin, students should contact Disability Resource Services at least four weeks before the start of the semester.

    Health Education Center

    The Health Education Center, located inside the Truax campus Center for Student Life, Room 140, offers many health programs and provides resources and information for students. This health education emphasis will enable students to make informed decisions and be self-directed regarding their own personal health and wellness. Various informational tables and health screenings are held throughout the year, including a Wellness Fair.

    Multicultural Support

    Advisors are available to help support our multicultural students. Services include assistance with program admission, financial aid application, registration, educational and career planning, academic advising and other referral services.

    TRiO/Student Support Services (SSS)

    The TRiO/Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded comprehensive support program to increase student retention and graduation rates and to facilitate the transfer from Madison College to a 4 year college or University.

    Turning Point

    Turning Point encourages displaced homemakers to achieve their educational and personal goals by providing personalized support through educational services and employment resources.

    Our goal is to make a difference in our participants’ lives empowering them through education, career advising, counseling services and by enhancing their computer skills, job searching strategies, workshops and individual support to generate strong independent individuals.

    Through Madison College's Turning Point program, displaced homemakers can receive:

    • Individual support
    • Computer literacy training
    • Instructional workshops
    • Job placement assistance
