Message from the Director of Public Safety

James BottoniWe believe that a safe community is the responsibility of the entire community. It is our desire to provide you with information that will assist you in enjoying a successful and rewarding educational experience at Madison College. We believe this process begins by becoming an active member in your campus community. You are encouraged to get involved in the safety of the campus by attending safety education programs and when necessary, reporting suspicious activity to the Public Safety Services Department.

Most of the crimes, which occur at Madison College, involve "crimes of opportunity". The people who commit these acts simply take advantage of the opportunities provided to them. Personal property that is left unattended and later becomes stolen is the most frequently occurring example of crimes of opportunity at Madison College. Each of us must make a conscious effort to minimize such opportunities.

We strongly believe that an informed community is a safe community. Within this web site, you will find crime reports, crime alerts and annual crime statistics. Please take a few minutes to review these important sections and become familiar with this information. Should you have security/safety questions that are not covered in the information, please call the Public Safety Services Department at (608) 246-6932, or send me an jbottoni[at] matcmadison [dot] edu (e-mail) and we will do whatever is possible to assist you in addressing your concerns.
