Little Shop of Horrors at Mitby Theater

Madison College Performing Arts invites you to attend our Spring Semester 2011 production of Little Shop of Horrors opening Friday, February 4 at the beautiful Mitby Theater.

This giddy and gruesome musical is a cult classic and one of Off-Broadway’s longest running shows of all time. Songwriting team Howard Ashman and Alan Menken have paired 50’s doo-wop and saccharine love songs to present an array of zany characters and memorable melodies. You are sure to leave the theater humming the ever popular songs “Suddenly Seymour” and “Somewhere that’s Green.”

Little Shop of HorrorsWatch as “down on his luck” Skid Row florist assistant Seymour Krelborn becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh human blood. Seymour’s growing infatuation for his co-work Audrey blinds him to the plants ever growing powers. As Seymour’s life improves, and his dreams begin to come true, it becomes clear that the plant is a bloodthirsty, man-eating alien that threatens to destroy the world! Join in the fun as Seymour makes his choices and reaps the consequences.

Madison College’s production of Little Shop of Horrors is directed by Robin Fonfara and features whimsical choreography by Cindy Severt, vocal direction by Taras Nahirniak, and zany costume design by Mary Waldhart. Madison College alumni and now faculty member, Emmalee Pearson has designed and created the magical (and hungry) series of Audrey II puppets that star in the show.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, this show is just right for someone looking for a “strange and interesting” gift for their special someone.

Show dates and time are: February 4, 5, 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m. and February 6 and 13 at 2 p.m. The Mitby Theater is located at Madison College’s Truax location at 3550 Anderson St. in Madison. Parking is free!

Tickets are available Mitby Theater website.
