About
A paralegal or legal assistant is a person qualified by education, training, or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity to perform specifically-designated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible. Paralegals are not authorized to practice law. The Post-baccalaureate Certificate in paralegal is appropriate for those persons who already have earned a bachelor's degree.
Admissions
Requirements for Certificate Program
- College transcipts showing a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution

To be eligible for admission to the program the student must complete a summer Introduction to Paralegal Profession course with a grade of “C” or better. Students must demonstrate a keyboarding speed of at least 50 wpm with five errors or less in order to enroll for fall paralegal classes.
Certificate Eligibility
To earn a certificate, you need to apply for admission and submit college transcripts.
Online Certificate Application
Create an ApplyWeb account and follow the instructions to complete the Online Certificate Application. Submit the $15 non-refundable fee (payable by credit card, debit card or electronic check) with your application. Applicants may submit more than one certificate application per term using the Online Certificate Application; the same fees apply for each additional application.
Paper Certificate Application
You can request a paper application from the Enrollment Center at (608) 246-6210. Submit the $15 non-refundable fee (payable by check or money order) with your application. Effective January 1, 2011, the non-refundable paper certificate application fee will be $20. Please note: using a paper application can delay the processing of your admission application additional two weeks.
Financial Aid Eligibility
Certificates are not eligible for financial aid.
