The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that jobs for marketing professionals can grow as much as 23% by 2010! In a recent survey by the Institute for International research, marketing was the #1 most critical area of expertise for the next generation of business leaders (cited by 31% as the business skill of the future.)
Marketing is critical to the success of every organization— whether large or small, profit or nonprofit, product- or service-oriented. All organizations must identify and research target markets; determine customer needs; and establish how products and services can most effectively be created, distributed, priced and promoted. Course formats include 16-week, 8-week, online, and hybrid options. Choose from a unique menu of options to meet your work and life schedule!
Fastrack Marketing Degree: an accelerated learning option is available in Madison. Take classes one night a week and earn your degree in about two years. Contact Holly Mercier at (608)246-6558 for more information.
Emphasis Area Curriculum Information: In the first and second semesters of the second year, students will choose to take two courses in an emphasis area. Select from Advertising or Sales Emphasis Areas.
Admissions
Requirements for Program Application
The following is required to process your application:
- High School transcript - or
- Completed COMPASS - or
- HSED/GED Test Scores - or
- College transcript showing an Associate Degree, Bachelor's or higher Degree
Spring 2010
For this program applications must be received by January 15, 2010 to be considered for the spring semester. All supporting documentation (transcripts, test scores, etc.) must be received by February 2, 2010.
Fall 2010
MATC begins collecting applications for the following year's Fall term on September 1st. The Admissions Office will then begin processing those applications on the 3rd Monday in October. (Effective for the fall of 2010).
Program Outcomes
- Identify marketing’s strategic and tactical role, both internally and externally, in organizations of all kinds.
- Understand and apply fundamental marketing concepts including product development and management, pricing analysis and determination, promotion principles and fulfillment strategies relative to channels and physical distribution in contribution to organizational effectiveness and success.
- Assist in the creation and execution of marketing plans by monitoring, assessing and adapting business strategies to emerging opportunities in both domestic and global markets.
- Demonstrate responsibility, accountability and critical thinking skills while contributing to a healthy and productive work environment.
- Use appropriate technology and organizational/analytical skills to locate, manage and apply information to solve simple and complex business problems.
- Plan, prioritize and manage projects.
- Communicate effectively and confidently through presentation, written and verbal formats.
- Demonstrate creativity, innovation and flexibility in order to work successfully in a continuously changing business environment.
- Participate in organizational activities as a productive and responsible team leader and member.

A grade of "C" or higher is required for all core (program specific) courses to graduate.
