    About

    This two-year program meets the specific skills and knowledge requirements of technical and professional jobs within the information technology (IT) field for an entry-level educational needs of most segments of the IT field which primarily utilize mainframe computers in conjunction with web and server applications. Training blends general educational development with required IT technical skills for programmer/analysts in government, insurance, manufacturing, service, wholesale and retail sales, utilities, banking and accounting. Additional education and job experience lead to work in systems analysis.

    Requirements for Program Application

    The following is required to process your application:

    • High School transcript - or
    • Completed COMPASS - or
    • HSED/GED Test Scores - or
    • College transcript showing an Associate Degree, Bachelor's or higher Degree
    Admission Processing Deadlines: 
    Spring 2010

    For this program applications must be received by January 15, 2010 to be considered for the spring semester.  All supporting documentation (transcripts, test scores, etc.) must be received by February 2, 2010.

    Fall 2010

    MATC begins collecting applications for the following year's Fall term on September 1st.  The Admissions Office will then begin processing those applications on the 3rd Monday in October. (Effective for the fall of 2010).

    Program Outcomes

    Program Outcomes: 
    1. Write moderately complex web applications using current PHP or ASP.NET technology.
    2. Write moderately complex web applications using current JavaScript and AJAX technology.
    3. Write SQL statements to retrieve/manipulate data and manipulate relational database structures.
    4. Perform entry-level systems analysis and design work to solve business problems using both traditional and object-oriented methodologies.
    5. Build the client side of interactive websites using XHTML and XML.
    6. Demonstrate work ethics and reliable behavior including, but not limited to, assuming responsibility for decisions and actions, utilizing time and stress management skills, and displaying initiative.
    7. Work as a team member by demonstrating good communication and listening skills, cooperation, and providing a supportive environment.
    8. Demonstrate an understanding of the IT field and its job roles, with some emphasis on IT security as it applies to programming.
    9. Developing moderately complex business applications using advanced language techniques and object-oriented principles, using PHP or .NET.
    10. Troubleshoot personal computer systems.

    Definitions and Guidelines

    We only transfer in equivalent college work if the grade is a C or better. (We do not transfer in C- graded course work).

    Advanced Standing cannot exceed 50% of the required credits for the program.
