About
The Finance program provides the educational background and training required for entry positions in banks, savings and loan associations, finance companies, credit unions, real estate, insurance, financial planning, government, or mercantile and manufacturing enterprises. Job experience and continuing education provide the qualifications necessary for advancement. finance relates to the management of, not necessarily the accounting for, monetary affairs. Public finance deals with governmental agencies, corporate finance deals with business enterprise, and personal finance deals with monetary afairs of individuals. The Finance student is encouraged, while successfully completing the core curriculum, to select electives which focus on one of these three areas of finance: public, corporate or personal.
Admissions
Requirements for Program Application
The following is required to process your application:
- High School transcript - or
- Completed COMPASS - or
- HSED/GED Test Scores - or
- College transcript showing an Associate Degree, Bachelor's or higher Degree
Spring 2010
For this program applications must be received by January 15, 2010 to be considered for the spring semester. All supporting documentation (transcripts, test scores, etc.) must be received by February 2, 2010.
Fall 2010
MATC begins collecting applications for the following year's Fall term on September 1st. The Admissions Office will then begin processing those applications on the 3rd Monday in October. (Effective for the fall of 2010).
Program Outcomes

- Use and apply real world economic data and events to forecast future financial movements.

- Apply critical thinking skills to develop new strategies and solutions.

A grade of "C" or higher is required for all core (program specific) courses to graduate.

Test Scores
Test scores are not required for admission into this program. However, they may be used to meet the C or better in algebra requirement if not met another way (see above).
Definitions and Guidelines
We do not transfer in accounting classes that are over 5 years old unless the student has been working in the accounting field. We only transfer in equivalent college work if the grade is a C or better. (We do not transfer in C- graded course work). Advanced Standing cannot exceed 50% of the required credits for the program.
