    About

    The electronics industry offers many opportunities with high salaries and steady advancement for people with strong mathematics and analytical skills. This program offers an opportunity to develop abilities in a practical, hands-on curriculum. Employer demand for people who can analyze problems and implement solutions is always high. Computers, cellular phones, wireless services and other fields of electronics continue to expand.

    This program offers excellent opportunities for articulation into four-year colleges and universities. A graduate of this program can articulate as a junior into the Milwaukee School of Engineering Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering Technology program. Partial articulation can be arranged to the UW System with the assistance of a program advisor. COMPASS test is required for enrollment.

    The following is required to process your application:

    • High School transcript - or
    • HSED/GED Test Scores - or
    • All College transcripts

    Requirements for Program Eligibility for the Current Academic Year

    The following are recommended for the program:

    • High School cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher
    • Competence in basic mathematics, science, and English usage:
    • Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 (high school)
    • 1 year of Physics (high school)
    • 1 year of Chemistry (high school)
    •  COMPASS test

    NOTE: The first math class required in the program is Trigonometry, followed by 2-3 semesters of Calculus. Based on COMPASS test scores, students may need to take additional math classes to work up to this level, which could impact the length of time required to complete the program. 

    Admission Processing Deadlines: 
    Spring 2010

    For this program applications must be received by January 15, 2010 to be considered for the spring semester.  All supporting documentation (transcripts, test scores, etc.) must be received by February 2, 2010.

    Fall 2010

    MATC begins collecting applications for the following year's Fall term on September 1st.  The Admissions Office will then begin processing those applications on the 3rd Monday in October. (Effective for the fall of 2010).

    1. Analyze, configure, troubleshoot and assist in designing and measuring electrical and electronic circuits and systems.
    2. Learn new technologies and procedures, adapting this knowledge to effectively advance in the field and/or matriculate into the "plus two" section of a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) program.
    3. Employ computer based tools to effectively complete technical tasks.
    4. Work effectively in a team environment.
    5. Communicate clearly and effectively in speaking and writing with peers, engineers, teams and customers using appropriate technologies including audio, visual and graphics.
    6. Employ motor and analytical skills to solve problems.
    7. Use time management, project management and safety skills while contributing to an engineering project.
