About
The Associate of Arts Degree in Animation and Concept Development offers courses in traditional and digital skills related to professional 3D animation and concept planning and development. The program assists students in developing a broad foundation of skills addressing such topics as concept drawing and layout; figure drawing for concept work; concept presentation; digital modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation; level design and construction; asset creation and management; digital lighting and cinematography. Graduating students have the opportunity to apply for professional internships and mentorships, and are required to develop a professional portfolio and demo-reel.

Requirements for Program Application
The following is required to process your application:
- High School Transcript - or
- HSED/GED Test Scores - or
- College transcript showing an Associate Degree, Bachelor's or higher Degree
Requirements for Program Eligibility for the Current Academic Year
The following are required to be eligible for the program*:
- 2.0 GPA or above
- Attendance at Summer Orientation session
*This program potentially has a 3 year waiting list. Animation core program courses cannot be taken until officially admitted off the waiting list and into the program. Students are encouraged to take general studies requirements while waiting.
Fall 2010
For this program applications and credentials must be received by January 15th, 2010 to be considered for the fall semester.
Program Outcomes
- Demonstrate competence in technical and esthetic skills necessary to meet the challenges in the animation profession.
- Apply the principles and theories necessary to contribute to the creation of professional animation in a business setting.
- Apply critical thinking skills to solve complex problems and demonstrate effective organization in a high-pressure workplace.
- Communicate effectively and professionally using appropriate media, including written, verbal, graphic, and electronic communications.
- Demonstrate creativity, innovation and flexibility in order to work successfully in a continuously changing animation business environment.
- Assume responsibility for continuing education in order to maintain, expand and enhance professional and artistic growth.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team setting and understand workflow processes in a business environment.
- Exhibit desirable interpersonal skills, including but not limited to, respect and sensitivity for diverse cultures and individuals.
- Practice desirable professional ethics, honesty, and confidentiality as applied to copyrighted materials when working on various facets of animation.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply principles of intellectual property and intellectual freedom to the professional production of animation.

A grade of "C" or higher is required for all core (program specific) courses to graduate.
