PERSONAL SKILLS FOR SUPERVISORS (BASIC) CERTIFICATE (Interim Session Only)
Making the transition to supervisor is one of the most difficult transitions in any management position. The increased demands for productivity, efficient management of resources and a productive workforce will have a definite impact physically and mentally on any new supervisor. The Personal Skills for Supervisors Certificates can help make that transition a bit easier by providing the knowledge and skill applications necessary to deal with this added responsiblity.

In ASSERTIVE MANAGING, the learner applies the skills and tools necessary to perform the functions of a frontline manager/leader. Each learner will demonstrate the application of strategies and transition to a contemporary supervisory role. This course is designed to improve the management skill of behaving assertively. The student will learn how to develop each aspect of assertiveness through explanations of personality and psychological concepts, guidelines for
word choices and behavior, and participating in skill practices of assertive behaviors.
10-196-148 Stress Management 1credit Course Outline of Instruction
In STRESS MANAGEMENT, the learner applies the skills and tools necessary to perform the functions of a frontline manager/leader. Each learner will demonstrate the application of strategies and transition to a contemporary supervisory role as it pertains to managing the stress that comes with greater responsibility for people, processes and resources. The course seeks to improve a person’s ability to recognize sources of stress and to suggest methods of effectively dealing with stress. By successfully managing stress a supervisor can improve relationships and performance, both on and off the job. It will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their own stress, and the tools necessary for helping employees with stress related issues.

In the course TIME MANAGEMENT, the learner applies the skills and tools necessary to perform the functions of a frontline manager/leader. Each learner will demonstrate the application of strategies to function efficiently and effectively in a contemporary supervisory role. This course provides tools for evaluating how time is being spent. It focuses on identifying time wasters and improving the use of available hours. It is intended to improve managerial efficiency and effectiveness.

10-196-138 Managing Conflict & Change 1credit Course Outline of Instruction
In the course MANAGING CONFLICT & CHANGE the learner examines workplace conflict and its relationship to organizational change. It explores the causes of conflict and identifies strategies for management and improvement. The learner will also examine the necessary skills for managing change. The primary focus will be on identification, strategizing and overcoming resistance to change.
