SOLAR-POWERED TRANSIT SHELTER
Construction of a Solar-Powered Transit Shelter.
FITNESS CENTER ACCESS
Negotiated agreements with the MATC Fitness Center and Metro Transit (bus and para-transit) to provide
services to MATC students who carry the OneCard.
BUS & PARA-TRANSIT SERVICES
Worked with Metro Transit to install a digital bus locator board at MATC - Truax, allowing students to wait indoors, while knowing the arrival time of the next bus.
DISCOUNTED WIRELESS INTERNET
Negotiated with MadCity Broadband to provide discounted wireless internet service to MATC students living downtown.
IMPROVED FINANCIAL AID
Worked with Financial Aid to include course material fees & parking fees in Request for Financial Aid.
IMPROVED REFUND POLICY
Negotiated an improved refund policy, which applies to parking & supplemental fees, as well as to tuition.
LOBBY FOR STATE SUPPORT
Coordinates with MATC Legislative Committee and other technical colleges to lobby the Wisconsin State
Legislature to increase funding for technical colleges, provide for transfer of credits and to fight against the Taxpayer Protection Amendment.
ASSIST CHILD & FAMILY CENTERS
Senate allocated funds to the Child and Family Centers at MATC - Truax & Downtown for the purchase of a new stove and refrigerator.
SMOKING POLICIES
Collaborated with the Indoor Air Quality Committee and the College Council to determine designated smoking areas throughout the MATC District.
ANNUAL STUDENT ART SHOW
Established MATC Annual Student Art Show, now sponsored by the Yahara Journal.
PROFESSIONAL ART DISPLAY EQUIPMENT
Purchased and gifted to college, professional display equipment for student, faculty and traveling art shows.
CHILDREN’S DIVERSITY LIBRARY
Creation of the Betty Franklin-Hammonds Children’s Diversity Library at MATC - Downtown.
Senate purchases more new books each year.
