Can I take evening and weekend classes in the Interior Design Associate Degree program?

Currently the interior design program classes are not offered in the evening or as weekend classes; however, there are a number of general education classes that are required to complete the degree which are available to students in the evening and on weekends.

Can I take classes part-time or is this a full-time program?

Our program is made up of both full and part-time students.  Students enrolled full-time complete the program in four semesters beginning with a fall enrollment.  We recommend that students wishing to take classes part-time meet with an instructor to discuss the order in which classes are taken so as to maximize their experience each semester.

Are Decorating and Adult Continuing Education courses the same as the Interior Design program?

They are not the same.  Currently, the interior design program is not affiliated with the Adult Continuing Education courses offered by Madison College.  Students who have taken these courses will not receive transfer credit for taking these classes.

I'm interested in Decorating, but not in becoming a professional interior designer, are there courses for me?

Yes, please refer to our Home Decorating Certificate courses here - http://matcmadison.edu/program-info/home-decorating-certificate

Can I receive transfer credit for classes I have taken at another college?

If you have taken interior design and design related courses at another college or university, you must have the approval of the program director to receive transfer credit.  This is achieved by reviewing your transcripts, course work (assignments/projects) and the course descriptions of that institution and transfer credit is then given based upon review of those documents.

Are there any articulation agreements with other colleges?

At this time, we do not have any formal articulation agreements with any four-year institutions at this time.  We have had students go on to get their four year degree in interior design, and receive some transfer credit for our courses, but it is not guaranteed.

Which campuses have interior design classes?

All the courses offered in the interior design program are currently taught in our dedicated classrooms, state of the art computer labs, resource rooms and production studios at the Truax Campus only.

Do I need my own computer to complete this program?

While a number of students find it very beneficial to have a computer at home to work on assignments and do research,  the interior design program has two dedicated computer labs and a number of other work stations which have state of the art software applications, wide screen monitors and updated graphics for interior design students to use for their work.

Is it possible to get a scholarship or are there any scholarship affiliated with the interior design program?

Students enrolled in the interior design program are eligible to receive a number of scholarships through the Madison College foundation.  Among the awards given, is The Brownhouse Design Scholarship, which is sponsored and generously funded by interior designer, Laurel Brown and Brownhouse Interiors.  For more information on this scholarship and others click here.
