Performing Arts
Madison College's Performing Arts is the producing arm of the theater and music departments. Two to three productions are offered each year. Involvement can be as an audience member, performer or technician. Volunteers are needed to help with each production. Opportunities exist for Performing Arts Leadership (PAL) through SAB Performing Arts. Come join Harold (and his magical, purple crayon) in an amazing on-stage adventure!
Based on the beloved book series by Crockett Johnson, Harold and the Purple Crayon tells the story of Harold, a curious, imaginative, and resourceful little boy who creates the world he wants to explore by drawing it.
Harold goes to the circus, swims in the sea, takes a rocket ride into space and appears on television all through the magic of his crayon and the wonders of theater. Harold draws these and more in this original adaptation of the well-known stories.
Mr. Smudge, the villain, steals Harold’s purple crayon to complete his rainbow of crayons collection. Will Harold get his purple crayon back to complete his drawing adventures?
Harold's magical journey reminds audiences of the marvels that the mind can create and that anything is possible. Harold and the Purple Crayon is presented by Madison Area Technical College, Student Life and the Performing Arts on July 31st, August 7th and 8th at 11 AM and 1:30 PM in the Studio Theatre on the Madison College - Truax Campus.

The Studio Theatre (room 206A) is located on the Madison Area Technical College, Truax Campus at 3550 Anderson Street, Madison. Free parking is available in the Student Lots directly across from the theater entrance on Wright Street.
