
Orientation Coordinators
The Center for Student Life is currently accepting applications for Orientation Coordinators to serve during summer 2012. This position, under the supervision of Student Life staff, will assist with the coordination of the New Student Orientation program. Orientation activities are scheduled to take place from mid-May through late-August. Orientation Coordinators will serve in a variety of roles, including assisting with course registration, giving presentations in front of groups of students and parents, performing administrative and coordination duties and serving as exemplary role models of the Madison College community.

Job Responsibilities
- Create and give presentations to large audiences of new Madison College students and parents
- Lead small groups of 10 – 20 new Madison College students through team-building and orientation activities.
- Prepare items to distribute to new Madison College students and parents attending New Student Orientation activities.
- Assist new Madison College students with myMadisonCollege account activation and the course registration process.
- Coordinate on- and off-campus activities for new Madison College students that take place after Advising and Registration that assist in the transition to a college environment.
- Participate in focus groups and question and answer sessions with new Madison College students and parents.
- Maintain and contribute content to the Madison College Center for Student Life Facebook page and blog.
- Answer questions about registration, campus services, and other college transition issues by telephone, Email and online chat rooms.
- Assist with the check-in process at all New Student Orientation sponsored events.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of follow-up surveys and focus groups assessing New Student Orientation events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- All candidates must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
- Complete a mandatory training that is scheduled to take place May 21 – 25, 2012.
- Candidates must have a strong sense of responsibility and maturity.
- Effective interpersonal and small-group communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment, contributing effectively and productively.
- Must value and communicate/work with a variety of personality types.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to diversity and issues of diversity.
- Have strong presentation and large-group communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions, manage conflict situations, work under deadlines, receive constructive feedback and bring a positive attitude to the work environment and ALL New Student Orientation events.
- Motivated and able to work independently.
- Responsible, punctual, and dependable.

If you served as an Orientation Coordinator during the summer 2011 term, you do not need to the complete an application for employment. Simply turn in an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper with typed responses to the questions listed above.
DEADLINE EXTENDED - Applications are due on Friday, February 24, 2012 by 4:30 PM to the Center for Student Life offices in either Truax room 140 or DTEC room D125.
All applicants must participate in a 20 minute interview. Applicants will be notified of a decision by March 9, 2012.
