    Orientation, Advising & Registration Checklist

    Preparing for college is a crucial step in your journey to success. Attending an Orientation, Advising and Registration session is a smart way to kick off your transition to Madison College. If you received a letter inviting you to attend an Orientation, Advising and Registration session, you will need to complete the following steps BEFORE you attend. If you haven’t received a letter yet, please review the first step listed below to ensure that you have applied for admission.

    Before attending an Orientation, Advising & Registration session, you should:

     Apply for admission to Madison College.

    In order to attend an Orientation, Advising & Registration session you need to have an accepted application for admission. If you haven't done so already, apply for admission now. To check the status of your completed application, contact the Enrollment Center at (608) 246-6100.

     

     Activate your myMadisonCollege account.

    Go to myMadisonCollege and activate your account. If you have problems creating your account, view a tutorial or contact the Enrollment Center at (608) 246-6100.

     

     Check out your student email account.

    After creating your myMadisonCollege account, you can access your personal Madison College student email account. This account will be your direct connection to all Madison College communications, including emails from your instructors.

     

     Take the COMPASS test.

    Before you can register for math, English or communications courses, you must complete the COMPASS placement test. The test will take approximately 2-3 hours and must be completed before attending an Orientation, Advising & Registration session. If you have prior college credit, you may not have to take the placement test. View testing schedules and study guides.

     

     Submit transcripts and AP test scores.

    Be sure to turn in all your transcripts and test scores to the Enrollment Center prior to attending an Orientation, Advising & Registration session.

     

     Complete Transfer Credit Evaluation forms.

    Madison College will grant advanced standing based on documented college-level, experiential or military learning. If you are eligible to receive advanced standing, please review the advanced standing policies and complete necessary forms before attending an Advising & Registration session.

     

     Apply for financial aid and veterans benefits.

    Learn about financial aid opportunities and special benefits for veterans.

     

     Prepare for your Orientation, Advising & Registration session.

    On the day of your session, arrive at least 15 minutes early so you have time to park and check in. Be prepared to spend 3-4 hours on campus. Don't forget to bring:

    • Student ID number (printed on the top of the letter you received inviting you to orientation)Driver's license or state ID card
    • Family and friends! Guests are allowed to participate in a special programming track for supporters of Madison College students.
