    Put your communication and people skills to work in a protective services or law career through an Madison College program or certificate. Learn to work well under pressure and develop leadership skills to use in any situation. Additional training in new technologies and methods or in specific areas of interest will increase your responsibilities and keep you moving up the career ladder. 

     

    Programs

    Criminal Justice–Law Enforcement

    Train to effectively and efficiently understand issues and resolve situations as they arise. Learn law enforcement techniques and receive advanced standing towards certification as a Wisconsin law enforcement officer.

    Criminal Justice–Law Enforcement Academy

    Sworn law officers who are assigned by their departments can attend this Academy. Prepare for entry-level positions as law enforcement officers at the municipal, county or state level.

    Emergency Medical Technician

    (Basic, Intermediate, Paramedic)

    Be the first on the scene as an emergency medical technician. Three courses take you from EMT-Basic to EMT-Intermediate to EMT-Paramedic. Learn triage and first aid techniques and how to provide patient assessment and life support.

    Fire Service Certification

    Combine EMT training with 200 hours of hands-on firefighting training. Prepare to take the Wisconsin Firefighter 1 and Wisconsin Firefighter 2 certification exams.

    Fire Protection Technician

    Learn basic and advanced firefighting techniques and gain specialized rescue training. Prepare for or advance in careers in municipal fire departments, insurance companies, government agencies and industry.

    Judicial Reporting

    Play an important role in preserving important trial information for history. Learn to use computerized machine shorthand to record legal proceedings in court, depositions of potential trial witnesses and many other types of legal and business proceedings.

    Paralegal

    Learn the basics of the legal system and legal research including interviewing and investigative techniques vital to careers in corporate, private or public law offices.

     

    Certificates

    Digital Forensics Certificate

    For individuals interested in pursuing careers in digital forensics for law enforcement agencies or private companies. Digital forensics is the application of forensic science techniques to the acquisition and analysis of evidence that exists in digital form (e.g. evidence found in files on hard drives, in emails, in network activity, etc).

    Paralegal Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

    For those who have a bachelor’s degree, this certificate can help you add paralegal skills to your resume.
