College women's basketball: MATC sweeps into national semifinals

ROCHESTER, Minn. -- Gabi Hungerford and the Madison Area Technical College women's basketball team have rolled their way into the semis.
Hungerford scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Thursday afternoon as the WolfPack dominated Westchester Community College 75-48 in an NJCAA Division III national quarterfinal game.
Third-seeded MATC (29-3) will play Friday at 8 p.m. against the winner of a late quarterfinal between the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal between second-seeded Brookdale Community College of New Jersey (25-0) and Manchester Community College of Connecticut (22-3).
Morgan Lass had 12 points and six rebounds and another former Potosi athlete, Thresia Elskamp, contributed nine points and 12 rebounds for the WolfPack (28-3), who are making their sixth trip to nationals in eight seasons but are seeking their first title.
MATC outscored Westchester -- which is located in Valhalla, N.Y. -- by a 37-20 margin in the second half. Porsha Postell had 14 points and six rebounds for the sixth-seeded Lady Westcos (25-4).
