MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin's veterans have already fought the war, but for those freshly returning from combat, finding a sense of normalcy is another battle.

That was the primary focus of the Wisconsin Warrior Summit held by Madison College on Tuesday. Generations of veterans spoke about coming back from service, reintegrating into civilian life and overcoming post-combat stress. The summit's open talks on mental health issues enabled allowed the soldiers to share their struggles, WISC-TV reported.

"These are real-life stories of families that are struggling to get everything together and deserve to get the right treatment. The government always replaces helicopters, but what about the troops they put over there?" said event organizer Bob Curry.

Curry said there have been similar seminars in the state. He said events like these give veterans the chance to share real, personal stories rather than just listening to systematic talk about post-traumatic stress disorder.
