The
Wisconsin Presenter's Network, is a consortium
of the state's non-profit performing arts presenting agencies. Our
purpose is to support and enhance the activities of the individuals
and organizations presenting the professional performing arts in Wisconsin.
|
|
|
Our
goals are: |
|
|
1)
to share/distribute current information pertinent to Wisconsin presenters;
2). to advocate for the performing arts; 3). to act as a catalyst
for the exchange of booking information and to promote cooperative
booking; and 4). to provide professional development opportunities.
(I might add that block booking information and attendance at the
block book meetings is only open to current members.) |
|
|
To
these ends, we hold three business meetings annually: one at the fall
midwest presenting conference, one at the winter conference (APAP)
in New York City and the third at the conclusion of our annual retreat.
|
|
|
All
that aside, I personally find the "network" aspect of the organization
to be the most appealing and valuable asset it can offer its membership.
WPN members both individually and as a group are an informed, highly
professional and dedicated group who share their strengths without
hesitation. The WPN retreat provides opportunities for professional
development, often with a particular focus. And each spring, the presenters
considered collaborative booking. We all know that non-profit presenters
never could afford to run inefficient operations. With the
shift in the distribution of both governmental and private funds,
presenters are looking at models that have worked successfully in
the past and at the possibility of creating new models. The major
benefit of membership centers around the "block booking" information
that is shared and distributed to our members.
|
|
|
Currently,
WPN mails out three separate databases in phases of the booking process.
A "wish list" beginning in the summer/fall, a "scheduled list" after
the Arts Midwest conference, and a "final list" after New York's APAP
conference and before the Wisconsin Arts Board granting process.

Due to the nature of our network, only organizations presenting
the performing arts in public venues can become members. Artist
Management organizations will not be granted membership. .
