    History

    Founded in 1912 to teach vocational skills, today Madison Area Technical College is a nationally recognized technical and community college serving parts of 12 counties located in south central Wisconsin. It's the second largest of the Wisconsin Technical College System's 16 colleges and serves about 42,000 students.

    Real World Smart

    Madison Area Technical College provides "real world smart" education through a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal arts and sciences, adult basic education and continuing education, as well as customized training for employers. The college offers associate degrees, technical diplomas and certificates and offers classes that transfer to four-year degree programs.

    Madison Area Technical College has earned a solid reputation for high quality, practical and affordable education. It offers small classes, dedicated teachers and personalized attention. Madison Area Technical College also offers a variety of online and other distance learning courses. More than 90 percent of our graduates are employed soon after graduation. In addition, satisfaction scores among our graduates and their employers routinely rate above 90 percent.

    Careers

    Madison Area Technical College provides training for more than 100 careers, including such high tech fields as biotechnology, broadcast captioning, electron microscopy, plastics technology, internet development, computer networking and information technology security. Its varied programs include accounting, marketing, culinary arts, nursing, automotive technology, criminal justice-law enforcement and welding.

    We are one of only three technical colleges in the state to offer a wide selection of liberal studies classes that transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Madison Area Technical College is the single largest source of students transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the UW System and is one of the state’s leading providers of customized training for employers.

    Athletics

    Students can take part in eight intercollegiate sports. Madison Area Technical College athletic teams often reach regional and national finals and the college boasts a three-time national championship baseball team. Go WolfPack!

    Madison Area Technical College serves parts of 12 counties located in beautiful south central Wisconsin. Its 10 college facilities are spread among five campuses. Our main Madison campus is located in one of the top-ranked places to live in the country. It's easy to enjoy Madison's lakes, rolling hills, year-round sports and recreation activities and diversity of entertainment, nightlife, and culture. Madison Area Technical College's regional campuses are located in Fort Atkinson, Portage, Reedsburg and Watertown. We also offer instruction in hundreds of locations throughout its district.
